MP visits Evri to see new depot in Bury St Edmunds
Jo Churchill, MP for Bury St Edmunds visited the recently opened 77,000 sq ft depot in Suffolk Logistics Park in Bury St Edmunds to tour the site and hear about the firm’s continued growth and investment in sustainability initiatives.
Jo was taken on a tour of the depot, which is an integral part of the national operation, delivering a staggering 700 million parcels a year. The tour was then followed by discussions around Evri’s overall business performance, which has seen double digit growth over the past few years, as well as regional investment and employment. To support Evri’s ESG commitments the new depot comes complete with an EPC A rating and is built to BREEAM ‘Excellent’ certified specifications.
Excitingly, more than 50 new jobs were created when the site relocated from Newmarket to a larger site at Bury St Edmunds, and the depot is continuing to recruit. The new jobs at the location include warehouse operatives, van drivers, HGV drivers and several management roles.
The strategic move forms part of the company’s commitment to continuing to invest in its infrastructure to support the growth of online shopping, increasing capacity from 120,000 to 180,000. Parcels processed are then delivered across the area including Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk.
Josh Stylianou, Area Manager at Evri, said: “Today was a great opportunity to showcase how we are continuing to grow and invest in our operations in the area. We are proud to provide regional employment opportunities for people seeking to work in a flexible and rewarding environment within a growing national business.”
