Evri aces delivery with tennis star Liam Broady and donates £5,000 to Tennis First

British tennis star, Liam Broady, swapped his tennis racket for an Evri uniform and zero-emission e-cargo bike for a day

Evri has donated £5,000 to charity Tennis First

42% increase in sports parcels ahead of the ‘summer of sports’

25th June 2024: Evri, the UK’s biggest dedicated parcel delivery company, has teamed up with British tennis star Liam Broady to deliver a special package to the National Tennis Centre as he prepares for the prestigious Wimbledon tournament, which starts on 1st July this year.

For one day only, Broady drastically changed his career, donned the Evri uniform and swapped his tennis racket for a zero-emission e-cargo bike for a day, delivering a parcel to the National Tennis Centre. Broady was recognised by a fan whilst dressed in an Evri uniform and made time to stop and take a have a chat with the supporter.

The 30-year-old is currently British number five and reached a career high ranking of world number 93 last year. Broady has previously won eight singles titles and, despite friendly jokes from rival Andy Murray, is preparing for Wimbledon again this year.

Evri’s delivery site in Colliers Wood, just a short distance from the Wimbledon grounds, operates a zero-emission fleet - the company delivered 720,000 parcels using pedal power in the last financial year. Evri has set itself an ambitious net-zero target of 2035, reflecting its commitment to more sustainable deliveries.

To mark this partnership, Evri has also donated £5,000 to Tennis First, a charity which helped Liam in his junior days and where he is now an ambassador.  Tennis First helps young players develop, starting from 7 years of age.

I had a great time delivering a parcel for Evri and experiencing their zero-emission e-cargo bikes. It was eye-opening to see the challenges couriers deal with on a normal day – they’re completely different to the challenges on a tennis court but I have a new-found empathy for everyone delivering to my door and the importance of choosing a safe place or alternative delivery location if you’re out. It's fantastic to see companies taking sustainability seriously, and the donation to Tennis First is a brilliant initiative. Hopefully, it will inspire more young people to pick up a racket.

Evri has also seen a surge in sportswear parcels, indicating Brits are gearing up for a ‘summer of sports’. Evri has identified five of its top sports retailers and revealed a 42% increase in parcel volume in April and May 2024 compared to January and February this year – typically busy months for fitness, indicating consumers are excited for the sporting seasons, which includes Wimbledon. The company is well-positioned to deliver these parcels quickly and efficiently, ensuring everyone gets the kit they need to enjoy their favourite sports.

Evri is investing heavily in sustainable delivery solutions and, Evri recently announced a £19 million investment in sustainability to reach net-zero by 2035. The plans include growing the electric cargo bike fleet to 111 within months and electric vehicles from to 270 within a year.
