What is parcel cover?

Parcel cover is a service to protect your parcel contents up to a certain value. In the unlikely event that something goes wrong during delivery - such as parcel damage or loss - we’ll compensate you up to the item value you have given us. For instance, if your parcel is worth £15, we’ll give you £15 in compensation to match the value of your contents. Plus, when you send with us, we include parcel cover up to £20 for free*.

So, how do you choose parcel cover, what items are included, and how can you claim for compensation? Our handy guide contains everything you need to know for peace of mind and keeping your parcel value protected.

*excludes Postable parcels.

How to get parcel cover with Evri

If your parcel is worth £20 or less, cover will be included for you. If your contents have a higher value, we recommend upgrading your parcel cover to the full amount of up to £999. It’s easy to increase your parcel cover, just follow these simple steps when booking your parcel delivery:

  1. Fill in your parcel details, including the contents and how much it is worth.
  2. If your parcel value is higher than £20, you’ll be able to choose between free cover and full cover.
  3. Select full cover to increase your protection to the full value of your parcel contents.

Plus, when your parcel contents are worth more than £50 and you choose to increase your parcel cover, we automatically include a Digital Signature for extra peace of mind. This means your parcel is not only protected up to its full value, but we’ll also make sure it is delivered to a person.

What you can and can’t send with parcel cover

At Evri, we handle more than 700 million parcels in our network each year. From handmade candles and books to vintage clothing and homeware, you can send a great range of items with us.

Please note that non-compensation items and Postable parcels do not include cover, no matter their value. When you send any of these items, such as food, photographs, or laptops, it will be at your own risk. Check our list of prohibited and non-compensation items before you send your parcel.

We also cannot provide cover if your parcel has not been packaged properly. See our guide on how to wrap your parcel to make sure your contents stay secure and arrive in the same condition you left them in.

When you can make a claim

How to make a claim with parcel cover

In the unlikely event your parcel hasn’t been delivered or arrives damaged, you may be eligible for compensation.

Claims can take up to 28 days to be processed and the sender needs to start the process as they paid for this service with us. If you are a recipient, please let the sender know so they can get in touch.

If you are a sender, here are the 3 steps to make a claim:

  1. You can contact us via our website. Start a chat with Ezra, our chatbot, to create an enquiry for one of our Customer Service advisors to look into. This is the quickest way to get in touch with us.
  2. We’ll send you an email containing a claim form for you to complete and send back to our Customer Service team. You’ll need to fill in details, including what’s in the parcel, proof of value and the level of parcel cover. If you’re a marketplace seller, you’ll also need proof of sale to show the recipient has paid for the item.
  3. When we receive your claim form, our team will look into your case. If your item is not under our prohibited or non-compensation list, you have the right level of cover, and your parcel has been found to be lost or damaged, we’ll compensate you up to the item value you have given us. Compensation can take up to 28 days to be paid.

We also recommend you check our Terms and Conditions before you start the process to make a claim.
