What it means for you – and how Evri can help

eBay is making some changes to how delivery works for sellers. From April 15th 2025, a service called Simple Delivery is being introduced across the platform. Whether you run a side hustle or an online business, it’s important to understand how this change might affect you and what choices you have.

If you regularly send lots of parcels, you could save up to 46% on shipping as an Evri Frequent Seller. You will also need an eBay business seller account to continue sending through Evri.com, but you can easily upgrade to this from a private eBay seller account.

What is eBay Simple Delivery?

Simple Delivery is eBay's new integrated shipping solution designed to simplify the postage process for private (non-business) sellers. It uses automatic label generation based on the buyer’s location, parcel size, and service level.

The pros and cons for sellers

  • Automatic label generation: eBay assigns a carrier (either Royal Mail or Evri) and provides a prepaid shipping label or QR code once an item is sold
  • Standardised pricing: Shipping costs are predetermined based on item weight categories set by eBay
  • Limited seller options: Sellers can no longer choose specific couriers; they can only exclude services through their eBay account settings
  • Buyers pay shipping directly to eBay: This means sellers can’t control the price of delivery to make a mark-up or to give cheaper options for buyers

What eBay sellers need to know

While Simple Delivery can reduce admin for some private sellers, it also means less flexibility for any preferred services and carriers. Plus, you could miss out on better pricing, the full range of services, and handy time-saving tools available when booking directly on Evri.com.

From April 15, 2025, the following changes will take effect:

  • Private sellers: Simple Delivery becomes the default and only shipping option for private sellers unless specific criteria are met.
  • Business sellers: Registered eBay business sellers can continue to choose their preferred shipping methods and couriers outside of eBay's Simple Delivery system.

What are my options?

Depending on how you sell and what you want from your delivery setup, you can choose from one of two paths:

1. Stay as a private seller and use Simple Delivery

If you send a few parcels a month, Simple Delivery might be a convenient option for you:

  • You don’t need to set up delivery manually – eBay handles it
  • You’ll be assigned a courier automatically (Evri may still be selected!)
  • You won’t be able to choose your own postage pricing or delivery preferences
  • You must use the pre-paid labels generated by eBay

You can still enjoy reliable service through Evri if assigned to us by eBay - but you’ll need to manage everything through the eBay platform. Simple Delivery also means you won’t access better pricing or collect Tesco Clubcard points.

2. Apply for an eBay business seller account and ship directly via Evri.com

Are you a regular eBay seller who hasn't switched to a business account because of the added fees? You’re not alone. Many sellers are in this “grey area”. But did you know?

  • Becoming a business seller lets you opt out of Simple Delivery
  • You can choose Evri as your delivery provider every time
  • Get access to exclusive discounts and collect Tesco Clubcard points on every order when you use Evri.com directly
  • Use marketplace integrations with eBay, Etsy, Amazon and more to manage all your orders in one place on Bulk Send or easily upload using a CSV file

With an eBay business seller account, you can send directly through Evri.com - giving you flexibility, better value, and more features. Plus, you don’t need to be a registered company to qualify as a business seller on eBay.
